Stanbury Photography – 2014 Review

Best Artistic Documentary Wedding Photography 2014 by David & Jane Stanbury

So its that special time of the year when we all start to reflect on the year that was, and we are no different. 2014 was a blur, it really doesn’t seem that long since we did the 2013 review, even though we still have a few weddings left to shoot its only when we were deciding/arguing over this years wedding images that we finally managed to relive just what an amazing year 2014 was & is. For us the highlight was our Wedding Photography Workshop in Italy, we just can’t stop looking at our photo memories from that amazing few days, it was such an honour to be part of, and a dream came true when we finally managed to visit the stunning Cecconi Castle & the Graphistudio Factory. We also found a new passion this year… working with other photographers to help them improve their photography & business with seminars at the SWPP in London, the Photography Show at the NEC and recently again with Hasselblad & Broncolor at Shoot London and have made so many new friends at these amazing events. But it would not be possible for us to pass on our experiences as wedding photographers if it wasn’t for you the wonderful Bride & Grooms who have trusted us with such a high honour of capturing the stories of love, family & friendship at your wedding, from the bottom of our hearts Thank You!! Anyway enough chat here is our 2014 review, get yourself a brew there’s quite a few but we could have put 3 times as many in, thank you again and here is a very small selection of 2014…… WOW we still get goosebumps looking through these images, so many fond memories from an amazing year. On a personal note we would love to Thank Graphistudio, Hasselblad & Broncolor for their continued support throughout 2014 (too many friends to personally thank but you all know who you are) to our fellow photography friends who attended the workshops & seminars, to our amazing family, our son Cavan & Daughters Shanna & Kayla but our biggest thanks are to all our Bride & Grooms, Portrait & Fashion clients for making 2014 the best year yet…how good, I will let Gary show you how good 🙂 So 2015 what will that hold?? Keep it quiet but it may involve taking amazing photos, travelling, workshops, Holland, Italy…. Las Vegas….. So to you all have a very Happy Christmas & a wonderful 2015. D&J xx

National Photography Awards 2013

Well…. they say every picture says a thousand words and this picture is no different. This photo was taken just after we had been awarded bronze award (3rd place) for the Best Wedding Album in the UK and to say we were happy was an understatement. The 2013 National Photography Awards held by the Master Photographers Association are such a prestigious event and are to celebrate the pinnacle of Professional Photography from UK and around the world so this was a huge honour…. we not only received award for our wedding album but also 2 Merit Awards of Excellence for our Portrait Photography & 1 Merit Award of Excellence for our Wedding Photography, so not a bad evening. A huge thank you to you our clients as without you this would not be possible and heres to the 2014 awards………

Focus On Imaging 2013 *UPDATE*

Well what a fantastic experience and honour to be asked by two of the BIGGEST names in photography to give a presentation about our business & how we create our images at Europes largest photography trade show Focus On Imaging. Focus attracts over 40,000 visitors over the 4 days it runs at the NEC in Birmingham and is a most for ALL photographers. Our first talk was on the Sunday (the busiest day) for Graphistudio and it was such a thrill to see so many people attending infact they overspilled into the side walkways and blocked them (this may be why people stayed till the end:)) Graphistudio are the worlds largest & most prestigious wedding album manufacturer & by coincidence we use their albums for you our clients aswell so it was a huge honour to be asked by them to talk about how & why we shoot our weddings. The next day found us on the Hasselblad stand again explaining how we shoot weddings and create our images. Hasselblad are the Rolls Royce of camera’s and the choice of TOP professional photographers all over the world (thats why we use them). I have to say I was a little nervous as the audience consisted of Internationally famous fashion & commercial photographers, so no pressure but hey you know me once I start talking…… It was also great to be shooting live infront of people, easy when your models are the fantastic Katie Green, (yes you have seen her on TV and in adverts) & Vicki Blatchley and also great to meet up with industry friends old & new. So whats next after Focus On Imaging, well we have some great new bits of techy gear I cant wait to start using on our weddings & portraits, watch this space so much more to follow…. 2013 is going to be gooood :). ttfn D x

Photo Training Overseas

Sorry for the lack of posts but Jane & I are just back from the most amazing time tutoring photographers in Lanzarote on the prestigious Photo Training Overseas. Its presented as ‘Learn & Have fun in the sun’ and I have to say I have never seen or been in the company of such knowledge hungry people full of enthusiasm for photography.

I ran 2 workshops, one showing how we see, create & shoot our wow shots & then a super masterclass were I showed the delegates how I shoot a full wedding from start to finish. To say we were made welcome is an understatement PTO (as its known) is fantastic and I am still laughing at the fun filled week we just had as I write this blog post. The delegates came from all parts of the UK and Ireland and had various levels of experience from amateur to experienced working professionals all with one thing in common, to learn new skills & at the end of the day enjoy each others company & swap ideas.
