Inn On The Lake Wedding Photography – Gillian & Todds Wedding

Inn On The Lake Wedding Photography – Gillian & Todd’s Wedding

So what happens when & boy from New Zealand meets a girl from the UK? answer a fab wedding at The Inn on the Lake at Ullswater. The Lake district has to be one of the most beautiful places to visit and we are so glad that Gillian & Todd chose us as their Lake District wedding photographers as its also one of our favourite places. We arrived to see the guys from New Zealand playing errr croquet on the lawns, I suppose its safer than rugby and while Jane captured a few shots of Gillian & the Bridesmaids I joined Todd and his ushers. The weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony and with views overlooking Lake Ullswater the ceremony was idyllic. The air filled with laughter as the guests drank pimms on the lawns and chatted we slipped of for some photos by the lake, well it would be rude not to. Todd & Gillian are a fun couple and the bridal party were crazy the photos were a joy from start to finish. The speeches started with emotional video messages from Todd’s native New Zealand, then a crazy speech from Gillians Dad ending with the usual best man destroys groom speech (I love speeches its such a great part of the day). This was such a relaxing wedding that after the meal guest wandered around the stunning gardens and into the evening reception for a great evening with great dancing (a fab first dance from Todd & Gillian) and if we hadn’t been spoiled enough mother nature gave us a grand ending with the most wonderful evening so we grabbed a few shots on the jetty, intact it was worth a few midge bites as the light was perfect & we shot some gorgeous images. What a great end to a great day, hope you enjoy the images. D&J xx

Fashion Photography for Graphistudio, Italy

Fashion Photography with Graphistudio & Hasselblad

I love photographing amazing outfits & people in stunning locations be that a wedding or as in this case a fashion shoot, and what could be more glamorous than shooting a designer dress with a wonderful model in the magnificent Liverpool city centre. As regular followers of our blog will know I recently had the honour or speaking at the Photography Show at the NEC in Birmingham and one of our sponsors Graphistudio of Italy had a dress made consisting of all the sample leather covers that they offered on their amazing wedding albums and as the show came to an end I was approached to photograph the dress. As if this wasn’t enough our other sponsors Hasselblad Cameras invited me to shoot the dress with their new camera the fantastic H5D 50 cmos boasting a 50 megapixel back and 14 stops of Dynamic range (thats photographer talk for its a fab quality camera)and here are the results of the evenings fun. We started at one of my fave locations St Georges Hall in the city centre with our brilliant model Bethany… Then as the light faded we finished on the Waterfront A huge thanks to Jeremy Price of Graphistudio, Designer Aleah Leigh Fashion Designs, Mark Witney of Hasselblad, Broncolour for our lighting and of course our model Bethany Cammack. The whole shoot was filmed for a photography TV channel so will share that with you when it comes out, a great evenings fun as our busiest wedding season ever is about to start. ttfn David x

Contemporary Children’s Photography – Introducing Evan

Its always nice to photograph children, I love the fact of will they or won’t they??? and at the end of the shoot they alway deliver the shots that we want, as was the case with Evan when he came in for his portrait. As a parent we all want photographs of our kids laughing, smiling and generally looking happy but as a photographer I LOVE images that make you think… whats he thinking? as your drawn into the image with Evans piercing eyes. Saying that he’s probably thinking… who is this idiot behind the camera. We offer Studio & Location portraits, Interested? then get in touch. D&J xx

Wedding Photography at Arley Hall : Paul & Nicola

What a stunning venue Arley hall is & so are the gardens, well worth a visit for a chilled day off and no questions as to why Paul & Nicola decided to celebrate their wedding here with the gorgeous surroundings. This was our first visit to Arley Hall & I love shooting venues for the first time (its a bit sad but it what gets my blood flowing) and Arley Hall has so many places for photography, its a photographers dream. The brief for this wedding was fun & relaxed as the vast majority of guests were friends of the couple & this did make for a fantastic day and very funny speeches. On a personal note this was a great wedding & Jane & I were made to feel as friends and it was hard to leave as the dancing continued but with some great images of a gorgeous couple we had smiles on our faces. Here is a small selection of our favourite images…..

Thanks to Paul,Nicola & Sean for a great day. D&J x

2010 Photography Awards..And The Winner Is….. Me

Well this dream continues… On Saturday evening the North West Professional Photography Awards were held at a black tie event in Warrington. Professional Photographers from Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, North Wales & Wigan all descended on the Park Royal Hotel for the Annual Awards ceremony & we did quite well.
I was awarded the Prestigious Wedding Photographer of the Year award..again, the highest award for a Wedding Photographer, a real honour as this award is the result of many categories. Not content with that we also were awarded The Wedding Album of the Year, we won this award for the second year in a row an achievement never done before & this was a proud moment as this reflects on our business in general as wedding albums are a joint effort between Jane & myself.
Then just as things couldn’t get any better, we were awarded the Studio Portrait Photographer of the Year AND The Under 5s (baby) Photographer of the Year. Our portrait side of the business has seen a real increase in demand over that last 12 months & to be recognised in this field is mindblowing. I am asked why do I enter awards on several occasions, quite simply to further & improve our photography. There is so much more to a portrait than a white background & so much more to a wedding than a dress, there is emotion, the story & of course the location. As I have said on many occasion anybody can take a picture but do they look or do they see, awards make us see!
Below are some of the images that we entered into the awards….

A huge thank you to our clients who without we couldn’t have achieved these fantastic awards…now for the national awards, fingers crossed.D.
